Styling Sessions: Iera

A few weeks ago, a friend asked me to style her for a photoshoot she's doing for her portfolio. Needless to say, I grabbed the opportunity. We did a total of three layouts- one futuristic, one sexy, and the last one a throwback on 60's mod.

Layout 1: Futuristic

This look consists mainly of clean lines and metallics. I paired a black and white sequined cropped top with a silver skater skirt and layered it with multiple accessories. The contrasting textures of the cropped top and the skater skirt give the look a more interesting twist, and to top it off, the layered silver accessories exude a fashionably futuristic vibe.

Layout 2: Sexy

For this set, we wanted a sexy look that's more fashionable than sleazy. To achieve this, I accessorized an oversized white button-down with a chunky pearl choker and black thigh-high socks. The pearls provide an understated elegance to a look that can otherwise be far from classy.

Layout 3: Mod

I believe this is my favorite look from the whole set. It's fun, full of color, and playful, and far from what people wear nowadays. The trick to doing a colorful ensemble is to match similarly hued pieces. Here, the orange top and the colors on the print matched the colors on the skirt perfectly, while the green tights created a cool contrast. Since the outfit is already blasting with all sorts of colors, I opted for neutral accessories to complement the look- namely, a gunmetal-and-silver choker and a transparent bracelet.

Fairytale Fantasy

A couple of weeks ago, some friends and I did a shoot for our respective portfolios. I'm really excited to share it with you guys as the photos turned out so beautifully. So here it goes.

For this shoot, I was in charge of the styling. I pulled out all these whimsical clothes and accessories from Lizanne Cua's holiday collection. She's a friend of mine and she invited me to watch her show last fashion week, and it was just enchanting. Thus, when I was asked to do this shoot, I immediately knew that I wanted to incorporate some of her collection's magic into this project. It was the best decision ever.

The clothes and accessories suited the model's features perfectly, and, with the help of Vince Chang's expertise on snapping the perfect glimpse of daylight, the shoot resulted in a lot of ethereal photographs- no pixie dust needed.

Another factor that added to the lovely effect of the overall look was the makeup, done by one of my bestest friends Boofy Magallanes. She went for a look to match the colors of the clothes. What I liked best about this is that it was a perfect blend of softness and color. It wasn't too overpowering even if there was a play on palettes.

Sweet Stranger

Have you ever judged a stranger? Because I have, only to find this stranger slowly become a familiar face in a couple of weeks and turn out to be one of my bestest friends. As the saying goes, first impressions never last. I know this is off topic as this is obviously an outfit post, but sometimes I just wonder about people's first impressions of me and how I know that 75% of these impressions are actually wrong.

Obviously, at first glance, I may look like a sweetheart- all pastel and frilly- but really, once you get to know me, you'll find out how this couldn't be more wrong. But I won't delve into that. That's for me to know and for you to find out. ;)

Ever since I was little, I've always favored girly colors, and the pink-and-lavander combo was my favorite. You'd think it'll change as I grew older, but no, the love for these colors together as a pair only grew with time- with the addition of other pastel colors on my wardrobe palette. It just looks so fresh and clean and innocent, and who doesn't want to walk around with the feeling of childlike innocence, right? I swear, feeling good and liking what you wear can easily make your day a hundred times better and boost your confidence. You'd feel like strangers will like you a lot better. And though we often don't admit it, we all know that we'd really prefer it if we make a good first impression upon other people.

Now I have a little question for you: if you'd seen me on the street for the first time, what would you think of me? Tell me in the comments below!:)

Azkals For Sprinto

A few weeks ago, my friend Chase invited me to attend a media event for Sprinto, an eyewear brand wherein she's an ambassador. Just a little background, Sprinto actually originated as a watch brand in Hong Kong, but is now venturing into the eyewear territory. The brand has also been expanding and branching out to different countries like Dubai, Singapore, Japan, and recently, the Philippines.

The event we attended was actually the contract signing of the Philippine Azkals for Sprinto. It was held in the Azkals Cafe, located at McKinley Hill. Here's Chieffy Caligdong, being interviewed by ABS-CBN's Mario Dumawal.

This is none other but the owner of Sprinto himself, who's such a nice and hospitable fellow.

The Azkals were a perfect fit for Sprinto's "Never Think Twice" mantra, don't you think? You can check out the video of this event by Madhouse Manila here. Never think twice. 'Til the next blog post!:)

Au Naturel

One random Sunday, my brother decided that he'd like to take my nephews to the local zoo. And since I'm rarely outdoors, I decided to take the opportunity to take outfit photos. This summery blog entry is my way of combatting all this Manila gloom.

My Sprinto shades match my hair color perfectly, don't you think?

And yes, that's me, almost bare-faced.

I adore the back detail of this dress! These types of dresses are really my favorite - simple, classy and feminine.
